Wow, fascinating story. If Brosnan's quest was made into a movie, it might be reminiscent of The Life Aquatic.

I keep seeing a movie advertised on the Sci-Fi Channel (or SyFy as it's now known) called "Sands of Oblivion" which apparently is about the real reason why the Ten Commandments set was buried -- something to do with a prop that was in fact a genuine cursed Egyptian artefact. I haven't watched it yet...

I'm torn between which sounds cooler--the real story, of that unbelievably fantastic SyFy Original.

Also, Scott, I keep a little memo running on my phone of books I see in Borders that I think would make great movies (if I had 500 million to produce them with), and this story reminds me of this: The Lost City of Z.

There was a movie adaptation that got mentioned a few years ago with Brad Pitt, but I haven't heard anything about it. I can still write it.

Just kidding. IMDBpro has it still happening for 2012 with Brad Pitt attached to star, and James Gray directing and writing.
