I was pleasantly surprised by Kick Ass. Its very funny and a lot of fun. I saw this with a large discussion group where the median age is about 50. It was very well received, and while people were a little unnerved by Hit Girl, nobody fell out of their chair. The violence is very cartoony (the whole film is) and does not take itself seriously. I have a 12 year old daughter and was not bothered by the violence because is so over the top. It is a super hero movie about super hero movies and Hit Girl was toughest one of the group.

I have a daughter as well. And need to see the film before I say too much. But my feeling is a) Hollywood will continue to push the envelope to put asses in the seats. No pun intended. It is show Business! And b) It makes me happy when people are talking about and excited to see a movie!

Read and loved the comic. The trailers look like they got it right. Very excited. If I can get 5 kids to bed on time, tomorrow will be the night!

I think this thing has "Pulp Fiction" style cultural phenomenon written all over it.

All the major studios passed on this so Vaughn had to finance the film himself. Great to see the gamble paid off.

I don't expect this movie to be for everyone. But it is definitely a movie for me!

April's a tough month, but I wouldn't be surprised if it pulls in even more than 35m opening weekend, Scott.

I would have said north of 50m if How To Train Your Dragon wasn't doing so well.

The nice thing about this movie is that it will disprove, hopefully, the myth that female characters cannot be action heroes (Angelina already disproved it, as did Uma, but old discriminations die hard it's good to have more mounting evidence) ... the reason people will see this movie will be because of Hit-Girl, and she's a supporting character ...

Women and girls can be action heroes, I think. I'm looking forward to this movie.
