Very interesting info, well presented. Nice graphics. I think the Exhibitor/Studio split of the moviegoer's ticket is inverted. Typical studio take on a film is 40-45%, with 55-60% going to exhibitors. For an independent film, this "settlement rate" can be as low as 35%, with 65% going to exhibitors.

When you quote Avatar's production cost at $237 million and "the rest came from private investors", isn't that misleading? If private investors spent another $100 million on the production budget, shouldn't that be included? The money from private investors was still spent and still needs to be recouped for the movie to be made whole.
