This was my favorite one. I will often find myself discouraging myself with the formats and stuff, but reminders that story is overall puts me at ease.

Made the most amazing find when researching Rod Sterling on IMBD. Though Rod Sterling died in 1975 -- IMBD STILL has him for 6 more credits AFTER his death -- and Rod Sterling yet another project in developement! Not even the grave can stop this guy. What's he got, an avatar or somethin'?

It's funny how the concerns of writers then, (style/format) are the same concerns of writers now, and the those who know it best say it's all about story.

Patrick, I keep intending to extract a mini-rant I posted in comments the other day about so-called 'unfilmables.' This type of talk smacks of screenwriting literalists, that there is a pure and proper way to approach style and format. Yes, there may commonalities that are currently conventional, but they are absolutely secondary to the single most important thing which is a writer needs to tell the story the way the story NEEDS to be told. Besides, another thing I keep meaning to do, screenplay style and format is ever-changing, constantly evolving. Finally the fact is the very things some of these literalists say we can't do re screenplay style and format are precisely the thing professional screenwriters do all the time. Is it important to know screenplay style and format? Yes. Is it important to think about how you approach screenplay style and format? Yes. But if your story calls you to create a narrative voice that bends or breaks conventional uses, then a writer MUST do that. Nothing... NOTHING is more important that the story and the telling of the story.

Hi, my first post. I just started out, your comment has me interested. I find it so hard writing fluently in the moment because of stopping/ starting filling in elements. Checking and checking to make sure my draught is formatted RIGHT. Actually I could use any advice about this. My thanks, Grant
