I think I can see why.

I think that it is a neat product - and i was thinking it would be more expensive but so far, i like the price!

Think its a horrible name haha. my initials are PAD and i took some ridicule for that growing it. I wonder what their newer series releases will be called?... Max-iPad?

Its basically a computer made for reading, watching movies and checking my e-mails?

I mean, cant I do that on my mac?

As good as my iPhone is at those tasks, I cant imagine spending the money for something like that. I like having a great phone and a great computer. I do not need something in between.
Curious if anyone here would consider having the iPad instead of a MAC/PC at home?

what kind of screenwriting software will be compatible, if any?

I think this is a combination netbook/Kindle, though all of those content deals haven't yet been finalized by Apple.

I can definitely see the utility though -- a nice big screen for those of us who read a lot (scripts or books); it's more portable than a laptop for people who travel extensively; it can be docked with a full keyboard, so you won't be cramped typing as you would be on a netbook (although holding it on your lap with the keyboard may pose a problem).

I think it's pretty interesting. :)

I'm sure we'll have one by year's end. We're Mac freaks.

My husband's on the road a great deal and it's a happy medium between his iPhone and the laptop; he's been waiting for this. And I personally hate the small screen of the iPhone/iTouch which was the only reason I never bought one--yes, I'm the last person alive who doesn't have a cell phone.

I would love this for the e-reader capabilities, though. I love my Mac at my desk but don't want to sit at my desk all the time and the lap top doesn't fit in my bag. If Final Draft works on it too? I just might have to buy a little more Apple stock!

In addition to growing hugely fond of the idea behind the iPad in a very short time (read John Gruber for more about that), I couldn't stop thinking earlier about the wealth of potential for filmmakers this has.

There's already a few storyboarding, screenwriting and cinematography apps for the iPhone – but I think this new form factor is really going to take the cake, bringing them to a whole new level.

Can you imagine, as a director, having all of your shooting script, production plans and notes (dynamically embedded, of course!) right there with you? An on-the-go storyboarding tool with you, that can do animated previs and you can use to show off production art, sketches and the like? I think that'd be amazing, and I'm already pledging my cash to the first developers to go there for the iPad.

So yeah, I like it. I like it a lot.

I would buy one right now if I could. I use my iPhone for reading scripts, reading blog posts (especially this blog) and lately I've been using it for screenwriting. To do all this with a bigger screen with a lightweight, highly portable device with a long battery life is very appealing to me and feels much easier to take everywhere as opposed to my much more cumbersome laptop. And the form factor for laying in bed reading scripts...much better than a laptop.

How are you using the iPhone to read scripts? What apps/software? I tried downloading a PDF on myPDFscripts.com and the loaded page was incredibly small. I couldn't find a way to enlarge the text.
