For me, it wasn't a happy ending. It reminded of me of Custer's Last Stand, where several Indian tribes banded together and massacred General Custer and his men. The victory was short-lived, as the expansion of the West was inevitable, and the unending waves of immigrants in pursuit of riches forced the remaining tribes onto reservations. Are we supposed to believe that the aggressors would give up and let these people live in their traditional ways? We couldn't even do that with our own species.
