I think I remember reading an interview with one of the original Die Hard creators.

He said he knew the cycle had run out of gas when he was in a meeting and actaully heard somebody pitch, "It's Die Hard, ...but in an office building!"

I hear companies are just begging for hangover like comedies. Everything seems to be met with "It needs to be more like The Hangover." Gonna try to get my hands on this.

Doing project notes on this presently. Very funny dialogue that has the raunchy, post-Apatow vibe, which coming from female characters suggests "Sex and the City."

The "Hangover" label is unfortunately kind of meaningless, as it's largely come to signify "inexpensive guy-bonding comedy with raunchy language and gags" which means in truth it's just code for "the comedy that made the most money this year."

What gets overlooked about the actual movie is that its structure - with a mystery hook at its center ("What the f--- happened to us last night?!") - was the sole thing that made it distinctive. Thus a helluva lot of stuff that has no such hook is being looked at as "Hangover in a... [whatever]" and will probably do nowhere near that kind of (lightning in a bottle) business.

Uh, shouldn't be called Desperadas?

I guess I don't really see the potential in this concept. The stakes aren't nearly high enough. In THE HANGOVER, they were trying to find a guy in time for his wedding. Here - why doesn't she just tell her new beau, "Forget about the e-mail, I was angry when you didn't respond and didn't know you were in a coma?" Not much rationale for a desperate road trip. And like Mernitman says, no mystery or the structure that made THE HANGOVER distinctive.
