The aliens are so cartoony and the whole plot is very contrived. I can see taking my kid to see this and just having fun, but I dont see this being the great movie Cameron has made it out to be.

...Side note, am I the only person annoyed by Michele Rodriguez? I can't stand her anymore.

Anyone who loves movies but proclaims they won't be seeing this is lying through their teeth.

The Cameron contrarian league (you know, the ones who said 'Titanic will be a huge failure' but went opening weekend anyway...) will be out in full force on various blogs and other media sources screaming 'failure' with the gale force winds of a level 5 hurricane.

But that's all it is. Wind.

Because they'll be out in full force opening weekend as well sliding their charge cards through the box office ticket machines.

Merry Christmas and start the furnaces now, Fox. You're about to get a lot of money to burn!

Jeff, "Avatar" cost 250 MILLION + to make. Good luck getting "money to burn" after forking that out. I think its going to take a minor coo for 20th Century Fox to recoupe their money -- but rest assured they're sure to get my $9.50 the day it comes out!

AVATAR looks AWESOME!!

Only wish I lived in L.A. so I could see it with Scott Myers. THAT'S my Christmass wish, Santa!

And with how weak the offerings are for best picture this year, "Avatar" could well be on it's way for an Oscar for that and many other awards. We'll see, but so far, what's the biggest competition for best movie this year? "Star Trek" -- and that's about it! 2009 has NOT been good for high quality story based movies.

It's not that it doesn't look amazing. It's not that the plot doesn't excite me. It's that for all the hype surrounding it about how revolutionary the visuals will be, they forgot to realize that the story was completely generic.

I guessed the complete plot from seeing the trailer alone (http://escarondito.blogspot.com/2009/10/avatar-new-featurette.html)

I really think the movie will be beautiful, and I will probably see the movie the day it comes out. But, when I expect a director of cameron's character to go all out with the hype I expect him to deliver (ala Chris Nolan, The Dark Knight)
JamesHutchinson at 2009-10-29 13:49:56:
That trailer has turned my opinion around. I was totally let down after seeing the Avatar Day footage in IMAX, probably in part because IMAX 3D is so lame. But I'd line up for this, no question.

Is it playing in 2D anywhere? I bet it isn't.

The Abyss is to T2

as

Avatar is to Battle Angels.

Most people seem to like this trailer better, but after that trailer, I'm even less enthusiastic than I was before.
Julien at 2009-10-29 18:35:36:
I won't watch any of the trailers, but I'll be the first in line the day that it comes out.

Cameron can't let us down on this one, it's just impossible.

My interest level went from blue to orange.

Delgo? Is that you?

As long as Avatar is better than G.I. Joe I'll be happy - if you keep your standards low you'll be more likely to enjoy the movie
