Ah yes but let us not forget that the Benicio Del Toro WOLF MAN is on his way soon and the next Twilight chapter to hit theaters seems to have a rather lycanthropic leaning...

I'd say zombies and vamps had best run for the hills, the WEREWOLF'S political stock is on the rise....

Ah-ha! Wolf at the door... the economy...see, the correlation is... um....

...okay, a bit of a stretch.

Zombies are wonderfully versatile as a metaphor, which is why I think so many writers enjoy using them. I've always felt that zombie movies are grown-up fantasies - the characters are free to wander around engaging in guiltless murder, they pluck whatever they want from the market, and they get to come up with little survival strategies involving barriers and weapons. It engages the audience like nothing else. In Dawn of the Dead the characters got to live at the mall. How freakin' cool is that???

Well, it's not a zombies for vampires replacement. It's both zombies and vampires. A college prof once told me that there are 34 criteria for a true romance and the only book -- in this case -- that touched all 34 bases was Dracula. That takes care of love. As for Zombies, well, that's easy: The grim reaper twice done, refried death, death warmed over, but death nonetheless. So vampires and zombies, life and death: It's "Lion King!"

I think you're lat to the party. Zombies have had their day, now Vampires are the new thing. If you really want to see upcoming trends in genre movies, don't look at comics or video games, look at the Sci-fi/fantasy section of your B&N or Borders.

Oh, and Angels are next. They're being gigantic dicks on the TV show Supernatural and they have an "awesometacular" movie coming out, Legion...in which they act like gigantic dicks.

Angels and werewolves will never be as big as zombies or vampires. It just cant happen because they are not the masters of their own destinies.
Werewolves are always overtaken by their animal side and unable to make interesting decisions. They are slaves to their condition.
Angels will always be slaves to God, even if they can be bad. They have no free will in the end.
Zombies and vampires will always be the ultimate bad guys because they do whatever they want and always win in the end.

Sirota's a little zombie-slow on the uptake; this has been hip for several years, arguably since the debut of the "Doom" videogame.

And with recent films such as Shawn of the Dead and now Zombieland, zombieness has gone meta.

I'm waiting for a comedy about zombies-as-a-persecuted-minority.
