I think this concept has been done about a hundred times: two extremely controvercial figures meet as the husband to be and father in law. What´s really interesting to see is -at least for me- how the arch between them creates an image of the american society. The Ned character: ok, from the trailer he seems like the regular decent, conservative dad. But the Laird character is the new element in this concept: rich, yet a rulebreaker. A modern hippie? An extened version of Jesse Pinkman? Someone the established families like to see outside of their world. Usually this is what they all need: a dose of the unconventional. But this guy? What values (I mean abstract values, not things) does he offer...? The trailer doesn´t answer this to me. I´m not sure if I will go see that movie. Anyone seen it and willing to offer their insights?
