Masking anger. Pretending not to be angry.

Here are a few ideas: Parent/child conflict The Knife Edge (character at the moment of decision) Bad Decisions (characters either being convinced against their better judgment or rationalizing themselves into bad decisions) Epiphany (the moment a character makes a discovery or finds a solution) Recollection (character recalling a past event, a better or bitter memory) Not So Secret (character revealing a secret, intentionally or accidentally) Metaphorically Speaking (the use of metaphors by speaking characters) Info Dumping (dialogue needed to advance a story handled either deftly or poorly) Standing Up (characters finding their voice, opposing the authority figure or powers-that-be) Comedy Tonight (dialogue by comic relief characters) Introductions (characters being introduced to other characters) Mentor (dialogue by mentor characters) Trickster (dialogue that shows the character to be a trickster) Masquerade (dialogue by characters wearing in-universe costumes or playing other characters). For instance, the costume ball in The Pink Panther or V as Rockwood in V for Vendetta Bridging the Divide (characters who make up after an argument or break through an emotional wall keeping them apart) Anniversary (marriage, business, accomplishment, memorable or social occasion) Military Moments (dialogue among soldiers, sailors, aviators, etc., in non-battle scenes) Fame (character responses to their own sudden or lifelong notoriety) Anticipation (characters thinking about their future, upcoming meetings with antagonists, expected outcomes, etc.) Luck (characters noting their fortunate circumstances, or hoping for lucky outcomes) Fantastic Reality (when a character accepts a fantasy as real or their perception is altered dramatically); e.g. Jason Nesmith in Galaxy Quest; Peter Banning in Hook; Miles Monroe in Sleeper. The Burden of Intelligence (characters dealing with being smarter than those around them) Failure (characters dealing with failure) Just Good Business (characters involved in business conversations or negotiations) Cover up (characters trying to cover up mistakes or misdeeds) Fish Out of Water (characters in circumstances for which they are ill prepared) Road Trip (conversations held during travel by car, boat, plane, train, etc.) Turning the Tables (characters begin at a disadvantage and end up on top of the situation) Insurrection (characters plotting or leading a revolt or subversive activity) Medical Emergency (dealing with medical problems or ramifications) The Natural (dealing with or commenting on the natural world as opposed to the man-made world) Animal Magnetism (characters discussing or interacting with animals) Kids as Heroes (memorable dialogue by child characters) Minority Report (memorable dialogue by minority characters: black, Asian, Latino, LGBTQ, etc.) The Bechdel Test (women discussing something other than men) Wealth (memorable dialogue by or about wealthy characters) Poverty (memorable dialogue about poverty) Time (not time travel, but the perception of time: how quickly it passes, how long it takes, etc.)

MARIE grabbing the ticket -- tearing it up -- tearing the shit out of it -- blind with misfortune -- throwing the pieces on the ground and stomping on them and then -- MARIE (looking up--) (What are you looking at?) BOURNE standing across the car -- on the passenger side -- BOURNE: I need a ride. MARIE: (What?) BOURNE: I need a ride out of here. MARIE: Oh, Jesus... (backing away and--) BOURNE: Please. I don't want to scare you. MARIE: It's a little late for that. BOURNE: I've got a situation here and -- MARIE: Get the fuck away from my car. BOURNE: I'll give you ten thousand dollars to drive me to Paris. MARIE: Great. You know what? I'll give you ten gazillion dollars to get the fuck away from me before I start screaming my head off. BOURNE: You don't want the police any more than I do. BOURNE tosses cash -- a stack of hundreds -- across the car into her hands -- she catches it. Looks at it. MARIE: Jesus... BOURNE: Get me out of here. Please. MARIE looking at him. At the money. Back at him, and -- Notes: Look at the nature of the action oriented screenwriting. Short jabs. Intense profound moments, like a poem or Haiku. She doesn't believe and yet the money tells her otherwise., Even later on the journey, she questions his truthfulness. But her apprehension is a wonderful trait to play on.

Midnight Run Jack ( Robert De Niro) and Johnathan Mardukas (Charles Grodin) when each discovers the other is a low-down lying S.O.B.
