I try to learn to write my first draft faster and more sloppy to get the story out on paper. This since I take a lot of time planning at get the First Draft "perfect".

It is comforting to read that someone much more experienced take his time with his first drafts as well.

I guess one advantage of rushing through the first draft is that you don't fall in love with scenes or characters in a way that I do now. Rewriting is tricky when you are in love with your own writing.
