I think it depends on WHAT the change is. I'm ALL FOR IMPROVEMENTS to scripts, but ego based changes, the changes that are made just so so someone can say, "I'm gonna change this just so I can make it mine," I'm not in favor of.

I think as a writer you need to be open to the perspective of others. There's always changes that can be made for the better. ESPECIALLY DIALOG. That's where I think the actor's input is most valuable. What about Meg Ryan's orgasm in a deli scene in "When Harry Met Sally?" From what I've heard the topper, "I'll have what she's having" line came on the set.
As a writer you'd have to be a complete egotistical idot NOT to want that in the final film even though it wasn't there in one of your earlier drafts.

LOVE John Hurt's respect for writers. Nice to know SOMEONE out there likes us.
