Ahhh secondary sluglines, that clears up a whole a lot of things. I was running into the newb problem of how to handle area changes within the same scenes. I'll have to give Die Hard a read. Thanks again Scott.

Here's another great character intro, from "Excess Baggage" by Max Adams, which won her the Nicholl and the Austin screenplay competitions back in the mid-90s:

"EMILY ROSE T. HOPE cut her teeth on a million dollar teething ring, and it was bitter -- too bitter. It left her an old woman's attitude in a young woman's body."

That's the second paragraph on page one ... it's tough to stop reading after an intro like that.

Thanks for answering my question, Scott. Was hoping to solicit a Myers original in my question's answer -- that's why I phrased it the way I did. Maybe sometime in the near you'll honor us with homegrown examples.

Hi folks

Re: short films - the BBC Film Network has a great (and constantly updated) selection of British shorts: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/filmnetwork.

The Cinema 16 DVDs are also worth a look.

Tom, thanks for that info.

Of course, there's a masterclass in short script writing here (even if the director tinkered about with the ending...)
