What interests ME is you've got this Janez Lawson in the front row - the lone black woman. It's not just sexism she's fighting, it's racism too. She must've been one heckuva brain. Imagine an alternate world in which she's been extra-curricularily working on this earth-shaking mathematical treatise, and she's got to decide whether to hand it over to a white man and let him take the credit (in order to have her work join the canon), or put it out there herself, and risk having it buried by a scientific community that just cannot accept that a black woman could be one of our greatest intellectual resources.

Another version of this story is already in production based on another book - Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race - which focuses on the African-Americans involved. The movie adaptation features a star-studded cast including Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Jim Parsons and is planned for a January 2017 release.
