This is an excellent trick for mining characters for depth, and one I've tried recently -- I wrote the logline from the POV of each of the main characters, and it's amazing how much that can tell you about them. After all, every character is the protagonist of their own story. It's just a matter of which one to focus on to tell the particular tale that excites us.
