Hey Scott, This brings up an interesting questions regarding rights and clearance at the spec stage. Before this can be produced and released, Fox will have to clear rights with Uber and if the screenplay makes Uber drivers bad or unsafe (which given the premise, seems fairly likely) they might have to do rewrites to get the rights, or either genericize the ride-sharing company and re-title the movie. Obviously writers shouldn't spec with content IP they don't have rights to (Star Trek sequels, Caddyshack remakes, The Tick reboots) but how concerned should writers be with trademark IP, particularly if it figures prominently in storyline (beats, plot points, etc.), which will have to be cleared for a movie's chain of title before it can be shot & distributed? Thanks, - jerry
