hey... I'll name one... ADAPTATION. She was awesome and brilliant in that movie.

by the way, I didn't know you went to YSD, like her, too!

I went to YDS: Yale Divinity School.

Gesh, what a thing to worry about?!We should all be so lucky to have such worries. The truth of the matter is Meryl is AWESOME in everything she does. She elevates EVERY show she's in, and generates immediate buzz about the moive -- isn't that enough?!

But I'd have to agree with her, her movies aren't as great as she is. You just know that when Meryl Streep is in a movie she is going to elevate it, and put something special into her role which will make the movie worth watching -- even if the premise isn't all that strong.

My favorite Meryl Streep movie is probably "Adaptation," then "The Bridges of Madison County."

I'm hoping Meryl gets that signature MOVIE to be part of before she hangs it up. Meryl Streep is my favorite actresses of all time. Just watching her perform brings me great happiness. She's the best. The best actress who ever lived.

I would argue that Kramer vs. Kramer is a classic film - certainly on par with Dog Day Afternoon.

Adaptation certainly was the first movie that came to my mind, but I do have to say whenever I mention this movie to people who aren't a)movie people or b)writers they tend to say something about how they didn't like that one or didn't get it.

Wow, I don't think I have a favorite role.

SHE'S THAT GOOD!!

Though if I were to just blurt one it would have to be Miranda Priestley. I wish I could marry her. But she's not real. Crap!

I do know what she means though. She makes the movie but she needs a movie to make her.

Prada would have been it without the whiny assistant. Maybe I'll write a Miranda.

Imagine the drama you could get out of that. Anyone have her number? :-)

You guys understand that it wasn't actually meryl streep who wrote this? the onion does this all the time by pretending celebrities/people wrote the op-ed.
Anonymous at 2009-09-04 10:32:41:
Agreed, Anonymous. I thought I was going crazy. Has anyone here actually read The Onion before? Oy gevalt.

They had earlier done a piece on J D Salinger where he was supposed to have come out of hibernation for watching Terminator Salvation. Imagine, 90-year-old Salinger waxing eloquent about Terminator Salvation!

It was hilarious. I thought it really was true, but it wasn't. That's how Onion does it. I'm not surprised so many of you were taken in by this.
