Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) Writers: Screenplay and book by Roald Dahl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9mba2qb9do A factory full of workers feverishly open thousands of Wonka Bars. VERUCA: I wanted to be the first to find the golden ticket, Daddy. MR. SALT: I know, angel. We're doing the best we can. I've got every girl in the bleeding staff hunting for ya. VERUCA: All right, where is it? Why haven't they found it? MR. SALT: Veruca, sweetheart, I'm not a magician! Give me time! VERUCA: I want it now! What's the matter with those twerps down there? MR. SALT: For five days now the entire flippin' factory's been on the job. They haven't shelled a peanut in there since Monday. They've been shelling flaming chocolate bars from dawn to dusk. VERUCA: Make 'em work nights! MR. SALT: (Shouting to the staff on the floor below) Come along, come along, you girls, put a jack in it or you'll be out on your ears, every one of you! And listen to this: the first girl that finds a golden ticket gets a one pound bonus in her pay bucket! What do you think of that? Staff shouts with joy. VERUCA: They're not even trying. They don't want to find it. They're jealous of me. MR. SALT: Sweetheart, I can't push 'em no harder. Nineteen thousand bars an hour they're shelling. Seven hundred and sixty thousand they've done so far. VERUCA: You promised, Daddy! You promised I'd have it the very first day! MRS. SALT: You're gonna be very unpopular 'round here, Henry, if you don't deliver soon. MR. SALT: It breaks my heart, Henrietta. I hate to see her unhappy. VERUCA: I won't talk to you ever again. You're a rotten, mean father. You never give me anything I want and I won't go to school until I have it. MR. SALT: Veruca, sweetheart, angel. Now, there are only four tickets left in the whole world and the whole ruddy world's hunting for them. What can I do? A woman's voice shouts from outside the office. WOMAN: I've got it! I've got it, Mr. Salt, here it is! VERUCA: About time, too! I want it! The woman is led to the office stairway. Veruca grabs the ticket from her. VERUCA: Give me that ticket! It's mine! I found the golden ticket! DIALOGUE ON DIALOGUE: Veruca Salt is the very epitome of tantrum. Throughout the film she throws one tantrum after another until she gets not what she wants, but what she deserves. She's the archetypal spoiled brat. Her selfish nature is capped by her final line when, after a factory full of workers have slaved for days to find a ticket, she holds the treasure aloft and claims "I found the golden ticket!"

The Untouchables (1987) Writer: David Mamet; Oscar Fraley and Eliot Ness (suggested by book) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAM2Q7Sqlbk NESS: What, you got a heading here: 'Circuit Court.' You got a heading here, 'Circuit Court.' What is this? GEORGE: Nothin'. And there's nothin' you can make out of it. NESS: What is this? WALLACE: If we can establish that any of these coded entries indicate payment to Capone then we can put Capone away. NESS: I want you to tell us which of these entries is Al Capone. WALLACE: This A. Costa. Is that your code name for Capone? MALONE: You'll do the whole thing in the joint unless you help us here, pal. NESS: I want you to translate this ledger for us! GEORGE: In hell. MALONE: In hell? You're muckin' with a G, here, pal. You're gonna hang higher'n Hayman unless you cooperate. WALLACE: This man can finger Al Capone. This man can put Capone behind bars. GEORGE: Look, why don't you guys just fuck off. Malone decks George. Ness tries to hold Malone back. MALONE: I fuckin' with you, mister Hard Case. We have to have that information one way or another. Malone goes for George but Ness pushes him back. NESS: Not that way. MALONE: You're gonna talk, eh. NESS: Out. MALONE: You're gonna be begging to talk! Or somebody's gonna talk. GEORGE: You dirty son of a bitch! NESS: Enough out of you. Malone notices the corpse of a bootlegger killed earlier outside. He goes after it as if the man is still alive. MALONE: Hey, c'mon you. On your feet. I need you to help me to translate this book, hmm. Now, I'm not gonna ask you a second time. (Pulls his pistol.) I'm gonna count to three. (Puts the gun in the man's mouth.) Uh, what's the matter? Can't you talk with a gun in your mouth? One. Two. Three. (Shoots the corpse.) GEORGE: (Terrified) I'm gonna talk! Don't! Don't! I'm gonna tell ya, I'm gonna tell ya whatever ya want. What do ya want to know? MALONE: And don't let him clean himself 'til after he talks. Now, ask him what you want to know. WALLACE: All right, uh, okay, I want to know the name of the bookkeeper. I want a complete translation of the code. I want complete information... Ness and Malone start to walk outside. MOUNTIE CAPTAIN: Mister Ness! I do not approve of your methods. NESS: Yeah? Well, you're not from Chicago. DIALOGUE ON DIALOGUE: After a stakeout goes sour, Ness and his team are left with one potential source for information about Al Capone, but he's unwilling to talk. Malone reaches his limits, but even using physical force against George doesn't loosen his tongue. Malone's tantrum is born of frustration and he finally fakes an execution using the dead body of another criminal to terrify George into talking.
