There's also that INDIE CINEMA is more accepting of "ethnic" casts, with movies such as Towelhead, Amreeka, The Namesake (although I'm not sure if that's indie?), Bend it like Beckham (produced entirely on 100% British budget with no backing from Americans), and so on.

to answer your question, my script is about an Indo-American family set in the midwest. I like to think of it as a very All-American story with immigrants settling for the American Dream. hopefully that'll generate some interest when I start querying it around.

DIMA, there's a really popular TV comedy on CBC in Canada called "Little Mosque on the Prairie". I believe it's in its 3rd season. Very definitely plays to the FOOW (Fish-Out-Of-Water) dynamic.

I personally think if you have a all ethnic cast and if your worrying about it getting looked at, you would be better served to go the billy wilder approach write and and direct your own vision show those hollywood hot shots whose boss.

Sure, it's great to sell a spec for a fatty-boom-batty price tag. But really, there isn't anything stopping you setting up the project yourself and getting it made that way. Especially since, by the sounds of it anyways, it's more of a low-budget feature than a Die-Hard-9.5-tent-pole-spendapalooza.

Nowadays... the silver screen doesn't only project black & white. Let the beautiful colors run free, my bloggy friend!
