I'm really not surprised, this one had my attention months ago when I saw the first teaser. It's a great hook, a cool concept and that's what they are selling. You don't need stars or even half a brain to sell a cool concept like this one. Same goes for Blair Witch, Cloverfield ... movies like that. Sell the cool concept.

Glad sci-fi has a great entry this year. Once I heard about it being a much different take on "aliens have landed" premise I was hook. Hooked! Hwood needs this to do wonderfully at box office. Congrats to the writer.

well it just got my $11 and "yeeaaah!! it was awesome.." Much more than i even expected. Great pace for the film. And great sci fi done extremely well. I wonder if they can get halo back, and make it gritty a action film, instead of a mainstream 'kingdom of the crystal skull' type marketing ploy.

Okay Scott, I should have posted my response to your response here, especially regarding the D9 numbers this weekend.

As I said in the comments section of your last D9 article, the word of mouth is indeed fantastic. I watched the pic with 4 other guys - and they were freaking loving it. The same goes for most of the people I work with (well, the ones who've watched it, that is).

If that's anything to go by, D9 will easily have a 20+ mil weekend and eat right into Tarantino's ego.
