The first thing I do is ensure I'm not writing crazy hours to the point where I wouldn't be able to tell quality work from just grinding the millstone. Burnout is no good for your writing. (Take a breather, E.C.!)
Then I put the script away for a couple of months and move on to concept work for the next one -- roll projects so I never get stuck rewriting one into the ground. I rewrite the prior script after finishing the first draft of the new one.
Oh, and a nice fat bowl and a good dinner with friends helps me remember to enjoy life. Hell yeah.
