I couldn't get into Buddy Holly, but Wrack and Roll was pure fun. I've re-read it about a dozen times.

It still makes me want to go and smash things and get very, very drunk. In a good way.

I knew nothing about him until now, totally looks like my kind of stuff! I'm a nut for lunatic fringe sci-fi, such as Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore... looks like this guy will fit in that lineup nicely, thanks for the reading tip Scott!

Jeff, re Terry Pratchett, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimers, he is campaigning in the UK to allow assisted suicide. Big article here.

My oldest son is a huge Pratchett fan.

Pratchett is a terrific writer. Losing Adams was a huge blow to the written word -- likewise Pratchett when he goes.

On a side note, Pratchett's daughter was the writer of the Mirror's Edge game. A little rough story-wise, but decent enough to adapt into a killer movie (I dream of doing so, the game is amazing and very cinematic).

I read a short story collection by Denton some years back, "The Calvin Coolidge Home for Dead Comedians." It was fun and completely quirky. "Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede" is going on my books to read list.
