SCENE 3 INT. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE-DAY GEOFF ADAMSON, 15, sits across a large desk from, RICHARD LAUX, 52. SCOTT KRYSZEWSKI, 43, stands, arms crossed, by the door. GEOFF: Man, I'm telling you Mr. K. It ain't mine. SCOTT: So that wasn't you hot-boxin' it with Ortega in the parking lot yesterday? GEOFF: Alright, yeah, I toke. But I ain't fool enough to bring the green to school. I know you bring dogs 'round here. Richard sits calmly, head resting on his knuckles, staring intently at Geoff. SCOTT: This institution takes these violations very seriously. You certainly won't be stepping onto the football field anytime soon. GEOFF: (desperately) Come on man! I told you. The dank ain't mine. Check me! My eyes look red to you? SCOTT: Heard of eye drops? Clears you up quick. GEOFF: Listen, just 'cause a boy light up, don't mean he's sellin'! I get bud from someone cross-town, not even near here- Richard puts his hand up, silencing Geoff. RICHARD: (softly) Mr. Adamson, Officer Walker is outside waiting for you. We'll let you know how we proceed. Geoff rises and leaves the room shutting the door. Scott and Richard share a look. They burst out laughing. SCOTT: Jeezus! Couldn't have come at a worse time. Thought for sure he'd be able to tell. RICHARD: Not gonna lie, for the first fifteen minutes there I thought I was talking to a grown midget. SCOTT: What the hell kind of names are these kids giving weed these days? Dank? I could have swore I heard a kid call it schwag the other day. What's wrong with reefer? RICHARD: Thank god for eye drops. Scott moves to leave. RICHARD: Say, stop by the break room on your way back and crack a window. Officer Walker can smell that shit a mile away. SCOTT: (stoner voice) Totally. RICHARD: And see if you can find out who that cross-town supply is. Mrs. Loeffler has been charging way more than she used to. SCOTT: Times are a changin'. He leaves. Richard leans back in his chair. RICHARD: Yep. Times are a changin'.

SCENE 2 BILL (late 20s) is sprawled out on a faded, well-worn couch. His clothes are baggy, base colored, and highlighted by graphics. He watches intently as TED (same age) leans over a tall, white glass tube. He is wearing a well fit dress shirt and tie, slightly loosened. With a sharp inhale the tube is clear, and Bill can already tell Ted is way over his head. Even with the tolerance he had when they were in college, Ted is not long for this world. He slowly passes the piece. Bill, even with his well trained tolerance, eagerly milks it just as hard so he can join his friend. For a bit they sit in silence, almost invisible to each other within the thick cloud. Then, from the depths - BILL: (soft, raspy) So you still doing accounting? TED: (far, far, away) What are we counting? BILL: Work. TED: Yea, I do accounting. Same as college. There is an awkward silence that sometimes comes with not seeing each other for some time. Bill battles with himself for a conversation topic. BILL (O.S.): God, you are so boring. He’s way too successful to be hanging out with you. BILL: What? TED: Huh? A beat. TED: So still at the burger place. BILL (O.S): Mmmm, burgers… BILL: Yea. Manager now. TED: (clearing up) They let you manage… anything? (chuckles) BILL: There’s not much. TED: (raising his hands, though Bill still can’t see him) And this? BILL: What? TED: Ganja. Reefer. Mary Jane. BILL: That’s what it is. A beat. BILL (O.S.): What are you even talking about? BILL: (loudly) Remember when we almost got caught with that zip? Ted smiles, which Bill can now see in the clearing room. Red eyes meet. TED: Yea. Almost ruined our lives. BILL: YOUR life. Mine would have probably ended up the same. TED: That cop was so fat. Saved our butts. BILL: He had enough butt for the three of us. The both giggle uncontrollably at the lame joke. The ice breaks. They are old friends again. BILL (O.S.): More or less we’re all the same. TED: (floating away) You still seeing that girl? BILL (O.S.): He had to bring that up...

Feedback 2 Nicholas, that is some fine piece of writing. Seriously. I could see this as a scene from the "Breaking Bad"-series. The broken thoughts and the unconnected ideas, really give the impression that they are high as kites! You managed to give this impression, without using specific stoner slang words. Great :-)

SCENE 2 CODY (20s) sits at the helm of a makeshift desk in the garage. The desk holds his computer and speakers and a brown satchel. His eyes are low and bloodshot. CAROL (40s) enters from the house and opens the garage. Cody shields his face from the piercing sun that shines on him. CODY: Nooo! CAROL: Sorry, hun. Why don’t you move inside? Your father shouldn’t be home for a few hours. CODY: It’s peaceful out here. Carol scans the surrounding junk and cobwebs CAROL: Well I’m on my way to the grocery store. Do you want me to pick you up anything? CODY: I’m okay. Thanks. CAROL: Are you sure? Cody takes a moment to think. CODY: Positive. CAROL: Okay. I’ll be back. Love you. Carol opens the car door. CODY: Actually… can you pick up a bag of Cheetos? CAROL: Of course! Carol attempts to get in the car, but stops when Cody calls out again. CODY: Also, I noticed we’re out of Oreos. CAROL: Noted. CODY: And a couple Slim Jims! They’re right next to the Rice Krispy Treats. Just grab one or two of those while you’re at it. CAROL (overwhelmed): I’ll try to remember all of that. Cody pulls out his phone and begins typing a message. CODY: I’ll just text you a list. CAROL (sarcastic): Great. Carol gets in the car and turns it on. As she backs up, Cody waves his arms at her. She quickly breaks and rolls down the passenger window. CAROL (slightly annoyed): Yes? CODY: Can you close the garage so the bottom quarter is still open? CAROL (annoyed): Sure. She backs out. Cody waves for her again. She rolls down the window. CAROL (hiding her frustration): Yeah? CODY: Just making sure you remembered the garage, carry on. Carol rolls up the window and closes the garage. Cody watches closely to see where the door stops. It lands exactly where he was hoping it would. He smiles. CODY: Love you mom! As the car pulls away, Cody opens the satchel and pulls out a pre-rolled joint and lights it. The garage quickly hazes. Just as he relaxes, the garage door opens again. He hides the joint, but the cloud of smoke ventilates into the streets. Norm enters the garage and coughs from the second-hand smoke. He sees Cody and the joint behind his back. NORM: What the hell’s going on in here? SUPERIMPOSED: 10 Minutes Later Cody and Norm sit around the desk and pass the joint back and fourth to each other. NORM: You see son, when it comes to purchasing power, you always want to look at the cost-per-unit. It helps your bottom line. Got it? CODY: Yeah I think so. NORM: That’s why you never buy less than a quad. Cody nods and takes a rip. DAD: Puff, puff, pass, son. Come on, didn’t I teach you any manners?

FEEDBACK THREE I feel like I'm missing out on the best part: when the father asks what's going on. I'm curious how he gets from that sentence to joining a joint with his son. What's happening in between?

Scene 2 INT. ATTIC – DAY ROB and JOSEPH (both in their late 20s, dishevelled) are sitting opposite each other by a desk in a terribly messy room. Over the desk sit an open laptop, various open screen-writing books, and their... inspirational material: a bag full of prime quality pot, paper and matches. The floors are littered with empty Redbull cans and bags of Doritos. Rob appears deeply in thought while Joseph smokes a joint and holds his breath. JOSEPH: Damn, this is some killer bud. ROB: I've got it, man. The answer is right there in front of us. JOSEPH: Bitch you scared me. I almost dropped my pinner. ROB: What if... listen man, what if it was the bad guy's plan to get captured all along. JOSEPH: You're kidding, right? ROB: No, man, it will be epic. He can go deep into the good guy's headquarters and once inside, unleash his evilness. Rob takes the joint from Joseph's hand and takes a long hit. JOSEPH: Dude, come on. The Dark Knight, Skyfall, even the frickin Avengers have already done it. ROB: (Holding his breath) No way, man. JOSEPH: Yes, way. It's so common it's become mainstream. It's as if... as if all these stories were written by the same person. ROB: You're out of your mind. Joseph reclaims the joint, takes a hit and holds it in. JOSEPH: It's like Hollywood has run out of ideas, you know? And now they are just rehashing out the same plots over and over. We need to change that, man. We need to take the bull by the horns and say 'no more'. We need to write something meaningful, something mind-bending, something that will stand the test of time and put our names out there.. in lights... in the sky. ROB: You’re so full of shit when you’re baked. JOSEPH: Come on. We're in this together. All the way, bro. ROB: You know I can't. JOSEPH: Why not. ROB: Because I am just a figment of your imagination. JOSEPH: What? Joseph looks around. He is alone in the attic. JOSEPH: The bad guy lets himself be captured. Actually, that's not such a bad idea. He takes another hit... and laughs. JOSEPH: Damn, this shit is powerful. He leans over his laptop and starts writing.

FEEDBACK 1 I really enjoyed this. When Joseph is talking about hollywood using the same old ideas, it felt very real to me. Maybe it's the repetition you use ("need to" and "something"), but I could see him and hear him as very authentic. And of course, the little twist at the end is perfect.

FEEDBACK 6 I feel that the story is disconnecting. In first part we have long conversation with mam, than it is dropped and all of a sudden comes dad. there is no uniting idea here. But I like the first part. That is just perfect.

This is a great scene -short, twisted, funny! I just think the two teachers could be more stoned. Like really explore a sensation, for example the idea of the grown midget, specifics on how his ears, hoody or his hat looked, stuff like that. Rather than moving from topic to topic, they could hang themselves up on something. Thanks though for the entertainment! Ah, feedback 6 by the way...

Feedback 7 Hi Nicholas! There is a lot in this script I can´t see. Biggest hang up: how come they can´t see each other? I thought they sit next to each other -suddenly "Bill still can´t see him" and "the clearing room" is mentioned- what is that about? I think there is much you describe here, like how they haven´t seen eachother for a while, because we don´t get it from their interaction. The inner voice is also hard to follow: "God, you are so boring. He’s way too successful to be hanging out with you." On the first line I was sure he´s talking about his friend. That would have been a more interesting aspect to explore, I think. Accounting is pretty much the most boring thing from the perspective of a stoner, right? Then, the "lame joke" being the ice breaker -ok. It IS a lame joke. But fine if the actors pull it off well. What´s next is really the next beat and doesn´t close this one. It would be nicer if you really closed the first moment than skip to the next thing.

Feedback 8 Hey Cass! I think this is very smart and witty. I had fun reading it. Especially the building of the munchies! I miss a description of Norm, his age and the way he looks. I have no idea what kind of father he is. Is he a threat at first? Then: what is his reason to join in? His looks could give a clue to this. Or you could give a hint earlier when Carol says something about the father, like how he´s always late or something to clue us in who he is. Thanks for the nice piece!

Scene 6 Int. Hostel –day A dormitory room stacked with 6 bunk beds. Two of the beds are inhabited by two girls: Adele (17), brunette, and Caroline (17), blonde. Both are sleeping. A GUY (30) with a thin hippy beard enters, he´s clad in colorful clothes and carries a guitar case and a large back pack. He looks around and dumps his luggage on an empty bed. Adele wakes. She slowly scans the room to orientate herself. The guy leaves the room again. When the doors shuts, Caroline on the lower bunk wakes up. Caroline: (groans unintelligibly) Adele: „Caroline?“ Caroline: „ourgh, where am I?“ Adele: „Amsterdam.“ Caroline: „ is that you Adele?“ Adele moves her head over the edge of her bed so they can see each other. Adele: „yup.“ Caroline: „Thank god! You´re here! I thought I had lost you last night.“ Adele: „ well, you must have found me again, for we came in the same cab. Don´t you remember?“ Caroline: „ Cab..? ugh, no..“ Adele: „ you threw up. We had to clean it up. The cabby made us.“ Caroline: „ seriously?“ Adele: „ we finally made it to this place after a night of horrors and then, just when we´re about safe, the cabby is like: Yo, miss, please wash my car.” Caroline hides her head in her pillow. Caroline (muffled): “ugh, no!” Adele: “of course you weren´t fit to do it, I have no idea how I found the kitchen and a bucket and made it back out there… I had hoped it wasn´t real.” Caroline: “ I remember the cop.” Adele: “ argh! I wanna forget that!” she hides her head now under her pillow. Caroline: “ that´s when I thought I had lost you: we´re on this street, this gracht, and I couldn´t see you. I got scared you had fallen into the water. I looked for you behind the cars –and there you where: on your knees.” Adele is hiding behind her pillow. It shakes. Caroline: “you where on your knees before this fucking cop! He was just standing there and you where like: please! Get me into a hospital. Please!” Adeles pillow is shaking severely now. Caroline: “and you where so pitiful, wringing your hands and all, like you where, hihihi, fucking praying, and huhuhu oh my god!” Adeles head pops out from under the pillow: she is bright red, gasping for air, shaking with uncontrollable laughter. Adele: “stop! I can´t hihihihihuhuhu take anymore. Ahhahaha!” Caroline get´s out of the lower bed. Caroline:” like this!” She get´s on her knees, wrings her hands and looks like a repenting sinner. Caroline: “Please. Hospital. Pump my stomach out. Pretty please? Pretty, pretty please?” Adele is almost falling off the upper bunk with laughter. She throws her pillow at Caroline. Adele.” Stop it! You´re killing me!” She gasps for air. The door opens and skinny beard GUY comes inside. He get´s busy with his stuff. The girls try to suppress their giggles but only manage for a short time. Caroline pulls herself together. Caroline: “breakfast. Oh, I´m starved. Let´s go for breakfast!” Adele: “ Hey, excuse us: is the buffet still on?” Guy:” nah. It´s three pm, you know?” Adele: “ I didn´t know. Thanks.” Caroline: “ no matter what and where we eat, Adele: remind me to never ever put it into our tea again!”

SCENE 2 INT. BASEMENT - DAY JAMES (17) and TED (17), sitting in a couch, share a bong. James: Are you sure about it? Ted: Don't worry man, I'm a highly functional stoner. James: What do you mean by that? Ted: Unlike other folks, it helps me to work better, to concentrate better. James: You're unemployed. Ted: Yes, but I know that if I had a job I'd be performing fine while high. James: So you have worked while stoned? Ted: nah. I've never worked. James: so how do you know you'd work better. Ted: It's one of those things you know. You know? James: I know? Ted: See? You know. James: No, I don't know. Ted: You just said you know. James: I asked if I know. Ted: Well, I'm telling you you know. James: Cool. So I know. (beat) James: What was that thing that I know? Ted: That you're not a highly functional stoner. James: Oh. Ted: Come on, let's go to the store. I'm driving. He tries to stand up, falls. Ted: I got a better plan, let's order a pizza. James: Good idea. Ted: See? Highly functinal stoner. (not a typo) He crawls to the couch. Ted: Open the windows or my mom is going to suspect we smoked.

SCENE 6 EXT. BACK ALLEY – DAY Two middle-age men are posted up on a brick wall behind a police station. Dave, the thicker of the two, watches as Martin rolls a masterpiece of a blunt. DAVE: This is damn risky, Martin. MARTIN: More so for me than you. You’re out of the ballgame. DAVE: Damn right. Means more toking for me. MARTIN: I’m jealous. I don’t get the same quality time with Mary Jane I once did. Martin takes a long inhale from a fatty blunt. He twirls it in his finger, examining his exceptional rolling job. DAVE: I don’t believe that for a second. (A beat.) Remember: Puff, puff, pass. Or you so big-time that you forgot proper manners? Martin passes the blunt reluctantly and drops some VISINE into his eyes. MARTIN: I’m still the same old me, Dave. Don’t let the new job title fool ya. DAVE: I hope you can fool them. Keep ‘em off your ganja scent at least on your first day. MARTIN: Spotless record so far. Martin straightens his tie, walks off without a word, and enters the POLICE STATION. DAVE (mutters): Pothead elected police chief. This silly ass city.

FEEDBACK 7 Really like the sharp back and forth in this scene. First half is especially funny. Might be funny to see more of a reaction from James once Ted falls, maybe a chance for him to get a punchline in.
Bryson Howe at 2016-02-27 10:20:01:
FEEDBACK 03 Really liked the premise and twist and I get the joke of the kid using all the jargon they don't understand but Also take note that no teen stoner ACTUALLY talks like that and this dialogue feels anything but natural.

Scene 1 OVER BLACK: We hear the bubbling of a bong. Coughs. A lighter sparks and a large, relieved exhale of air. Cut to: INT. Living ROOM Two men, mid-twenties, wrecked, sit glued to the couch staring, red-eyed at a television. The room looks as if it would smell of urine stains and smoke haze. One man, BRYSON, passes the other, BRANDON, the joint. He tokes. BRYSON: Why doesn't Batman ever take a shit? BRANDON: What do you mean? Everyone shits-- even Batman. BRYSON: Why don't we ever see him shit? BRANDON: Because this is a children's programme. BRYSON: Oh... Okay. What if he needs a shit during a fight though. Like he busts in on the Joker robbing a bank and then he feels one crowning. BRANDON: I don't know, he probably just holds it. BRYSON: Nobody can hold a shit for that long. Not Batman. Not Robin. Not even Superman with his "buns of steel". BRANDON: Then he goes? BRYSON: In his suit? Yeah, Alfred would love that. Beat. Brandon takes a hit. BRANDON: Maybe he weaponises it? A bat-pooper-shooter. BRYSON: Man. That's genius. That is some Christopher Nolan-level type of thinking. Some realistic shit. Why don't they show that in this show. Batman taking a shit? BRANDON: Because it's a children's programme. BRYSON: Oh. Right... Pizza? BRANDON: I kinda feel like some Subway tonight. BRYSON: Do they deliver? THE END.
Ricardo Bravo at 2016-02-28 18:52:09:
Feedback 10 Bryson Loved it. Bat-pooper-shooter is an excellent idea. Some tidbits: The names Brandon and Bryson are way too similar so they lead to confusion. Also, near the end, Bryson repeats the question "Batman taking a shit?" This second time is not necessary as the punchline is fully delivered with the previous sentence "Why don't they show that in this show". Very well done. Made me laugh... and wonder.
Bryson Howe at 2016-02-29 11:20:43:
Thanks for all the feedback you've left me. I thought someone might pull me up on the similar names but I also have to point towards "Cheech and Chong" who paved the way. Also happens to be mine and my best friends names haha
Bryson Howe at 2016-02-29 11:31:26:
FEEDBACK 05 It was really good dialogue, not an overuse of the "slang" but I would've liked maybe a few lines off the end because the twist becomes rather predictable. Great job though.
Bryson Howe at 2016-02-29 11:34:11:
FEEDBACK 06 Great sort of "who's on base" type concept with a stoner twist and I loved the quick back and forth. The ending was very vague though - what is the characters relationship and what is James unsure about?
brahmscounterpoint at 2016-02-29 22:10:53:
Feedback 10 I like the feel you managed to set up so nicely in so little time. I can imagine these two sparking up back in the day and having a good time. Even though they're sneaking around and breaking the law, this scene has got almost an endearing and innocent quality to it.
Tillery Johnson at 2016-03-01 00:24:54:
Scene 8 Man I just closed my eyes and saw color man and you know what I realized? If my brain on some kind of drug is capable of seeing colors and images on it's own, that aren't actually there, then who's to say that my whole life isn't one big trip that my brain processes as reality? That's the great question man. You know? You don't know. That's what faith is. Forget God. You need faith that this is all really happening right now. But what would that mean if everything was an illusion? Just my illusion? Or yours? Technically we could both be part of a different person's illusion, but the illusion was so elaborate that we were both granted sentience. How crazy would that be? Like imagine you have a dream right? And your dream is so powerful and intricate that all of the characters in your dream actually have the experience of living. And even though they only exist for the extent that the universe has been dreamed, however far into the future this intricate dream lasts and then at that point, their souls would cease, they have no knowledge of this, they still experience life as totally normal, non dreamlike still searching for the question of why us why now why any of this? And the answer is, it's a dream. We don't think of dreams being that powerful, but then again we're really putting our own understanding of dreams into a box. What if God is asleep? And we're just a dream? And the real universe awaits His attention? And we are but a temporary dream while he sleeps through the night? What if every night God dreams a new universe, and each one last billions of years and then ceases to exist. Or maybe throughout the day, as he tends to reality, he remembers little things here and there. Ah, in that one dream I had a son named Jesus. Man what a crazy dream. Dude, I think I ate too many mushrooms.
