Dang, Scott! Just woke up and read this post and you had to throw Mose into the mix of my head. Now I'm trying to think of which songs of his I love best. Seventh Son and Young Man Blues are up there but I can't think of the names of some of the many others and I don't have his albums. I've been trolling Amazon trying to decide which albums to buy! Guess I'll have to restock my collection and it would be worth it because he is one of a kind. I get the connection between song and film. I've been trying to write a few songs in the last 8 months and it is not as easy as one might think. But I use it as training exercise, as it were, for the heftier screenwriting projects I've got on board. Heftier not in importance, but in length and complexity of elements.

Glad to hear you're a Mose Allison fan, Steve. I haven't written a song in a few years, but I've gotten the hankering lately to give it a shot. I've got a notebook with song titles I've collected over the years. Busted it out recently. May give it a crack soon. Songs are stories. They have a structure. Economy of words is a plus. Same as screenplays. Just a lot shorter!
