Dropping plants on cars is a great idea..what a shame it got cut from the final film!

As I recall, Jeffrey Boam did substantial rewrites on the original Lethal Weapon, although Black received sole credit. He went on to write LW2 and LW3. So yes, stuff from the original spec script didn't make it into the movie version of LW. But then, that's virtually always the case.
