This one is among the strongest moments in Pirates. It’s power in deconstruction of a myth about Cp. Jack Sparrow. Along with Jack’s intro, the two are epitomes of Jack’s personality. Without this scene he’s just a myth like some Kraken. While with this shameful revelation (on the surface of the scene) the particular depth of his obsession with his ideals is touched. Without it his twisted eccentricity is just a cool thing. Once again, this scene concludes the meaning of this character.
