Scott, how was the writing? lots of fun? I would have loved to watch a remake - especially yours!

It was great fun. Some legal issues. We thought Paramount owned the rights and they were ready to have us write it, then discovered John Williams (producer, Shrek) had secured rights from Danny Kaye's family. So we met with John who signed off on us and we ended up with a deal at MGM. Trades announced Mike Myers pay or play deal with project based on our script. He was going to come in and do a 'polish'. Evidently substantially rewrote our script (which MGM loved) to the point where they said no. He said no. Poof. Project death. That's Hollywood.
