Great point, Hrockle. Since movies are primarily a visual medium, we, as writers, should look for every opportunity to engage in visual storytelling. A great example: Talimans. Physical objects with symbolic meaning. The snow globe in Citizen Kane. Moths in The Silence of the Lambs. The bicycle in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Visuals with symbolic meaning fit that to a tee! Thanks for that comment!

I'm going to add to this by saying a great example is The Monkey's Paw http://gaslight.mtroyal.ab.ca/mnkyspaw.htm for Action/Reaction plus the deeper symbolism in the story. Then again, I could be way off base.
