How about - Denial?

Sure, Liz. Denial is a good one because it can involve deceit. And that deceit can either be conscious or unconscious, a character so deep into denial, they can't even admit to their deceit. Then again, denial can also be a refusal to do something. So a lot of ways to go with that one. Thanks! I'll add to the list!

Weekly Theme: Formulating a plan.

Good call, Angie. Protagonist definitely in a state of denial about his drug and alcohol dependency. Interesting to zero in on a side of dialogue or exchange in which we REALLY see that denial at work with his character.

Nice one, Lior. Brings to mind caper or heist movies. And one of the challenges is to convey the details of the plan without getting all bogged down in exposition. IIRC Oceans 11 did a good job with that cutting between dialogue and visualizations of the casino security system, etc Thanks! Will add to the list.

Not sure if this could be a topic, but how about "complex movies that came out of simple characters/ideas" Forrest Gump Network Concerning "Flight", https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nGHP4uGImX4 It's around min 4:27 "I got control" "Oh, Lord Jesus"... These two lines crystalize this character's conflict... But the take off scene sort of milks off his issue with taking calamities lightly, plus moments where he approaches witnesses to influence their depositions then goes off drinking, how his wife and girlfriend left him yet he affirms that he "chose to drink", how he "gladly" sniffed drugs to sober up on the morning of his hearing, etc...

That's tough, Angie, because the theme has to be short for Twitter purposes. The one for this month - Writers and Writing - is about as long a theme as we've had. Also it's helpful if the theme indicates specific scenes and dialogue which reflect the theme. So for Network, a good theme would be Monologues as Chayefsky is famous for them. Forrest Gump perhaps Fame... Fate... True Love.

Theme possibiity - abandonment, by parent, society - possibly the individual abandonment of values, responsibility, dignity?
