I lived in Europe for three years during high school -- and have been a fan ever since. THIS win is a huge deal. Congrats!!

Good work US "soccer" fellas! There was some heroic defending going on there during the second half.

Maybe that'll take some of the heat off 1950 and Belo bloody Horizonte now!

BTW Scott - I meant to ask after your Fever Pitch posts: how did you get into footy, and do you support an English team?

This is fantastic news! Good to see that it's not just England who get beaten by, how do you put it, countries where football is not the national sport.

On a side note, I can heartily recommend supporting Leeds United, to anyone out there with an interest in the English league. Plenty of drama on and off the pitch in recent years, hoping for a magnificent revival this coming season. And Eddie Lewis used to play for us!!

I was happy to see that anybody else cared! This bodes well for the World Cup in two years!

My wife and I are both fans. I learned to play soccer as a young teen living in Guatemala and could never really understand why it wasn't as popular as football. While the LA Galaxy is closer, the Seattle Sounders FC are (still) my men's team and the LA Sol are my WPS team.
