4 more pages brings us to top of 77. Lovin' the routine. It feels like how it was starting to exercise regularly. You make the decision to start with a burst of motivation and inspiration. It gets tough, and at times, feels like a chore. But every time you force yourself to do it, you feel better afterward. And then it just becomes like brushing your teeth, you gotta do it or you don't feel right. Hope you all had a good session today.

Didn't get a chance to post last night. I wrote 4 more pages, which brings me to 80. Two thirds of the way there. Thedchen, I agree with you about exercise comparisons. I have felt a lot of parallels in building both habits. Sounds like things are going pretty well, keep up the good work.

Thank you Scott, for your GITS post, your article by Lawrence Kasdan was timely to say the least and a great boost. Let me back-track: Although not posted here for a few days my fingers have not been idle, I’ve sort of (ashamed cough, for being a week ahead of the game) got to within a line of Fade Out (cough cough!) Ashamed because I know others have struggled with the Act 2 blues. BUT there are two things spoiling my celebrations: 1 I’m at 140 pages! 2 There’s tons of stuff I need to add in, or expand on! Editing my behemoth will definitely be a trial by fire and red pen. I should have used the first week to prep. One thing to have a story in your head, but it’s another (as we all know) to get it coherently on the page. But on the page it is, and I’m so very very very thankful for Scott’s ZDT for hauling me off my backside and “doing something about it!” ZDT has taught me that a Draft-1 script is do-able in a month. It is! And the majority was on my ipad; making good use of all those 5 to 20 minutes a day that if you were to added up comes to a frightening amount of “dead” time. And all because I had a quest. But back to the Lawrence Kasdan article. Even though I’ve (effectively) finished my first draft I knew something was missing; even when I realised who my Protagonist, and therefore (actual) Nemesis are I didn’t fully understand their relationship before I read LK’s words, then it made perfect sense. I’ve had my “Sixth Sense moment”. I’ve even written down my thoughts, the exact relationship, so if I do nothing for a month (I have an old script I want to re-tweak after the 30th and a “gap” I find is necessary) I know I’ll not forget the dynamic between P and N that I need to reveal in Draft2. So in conclusion: Keep going! For the last week I’ve been “flat” in my thoughts for my ZDT script, grinding out the pages, getting all the plot points down KNOWING that by the end I will be deleting a third of it. A third! But now I feel great again, energised at tackling my Draft2. I know my characters better, and I really do know, this time, their story (not mine). So hang in there all of you, there’s a week to go: review, re-assess, but above all KEEP GOING! Get it all on the page so when the eureka moment strikes and you suddenly know how to fix the dull, flat or plain un-necessary bits you’ll be ready.
