Work is really draining me, and I'm staying later than normal to keep up with everything I have to do. But I'm still finding the time at night to write and I'm finding it's something I look forward to. It's even helping me get through the long days. The pages may not reflect enthusiasm so much as determination to get anything out, but 4 more were written tonight.

Determination, Steve, is often much more important than enthusiasm. You got 4 more written. Good. You're 4 more pages ahead of where you were yesterday. That's the product of determination!

Thanks for the continued encouragement Scott! You're the man. 5 pages today, up to page 73. The story took a few detours but now I'm starting to see which path the endgame will take. Glad to be taking part in this process.

I've used this month to tackle my first TV pilot. Back in October I did a lot of prep work then did a rough outline of about 5-6 episodes for my show idea. Then started November first with my first draft. Last week I reached my big climax at page 41. I had witheld some scene ideas because I wasn't sure if they really fit in the pilot. I have since realized that they do need to be there and have been adding them this week. Added about 3 pages today. It's been a really interesting process that is very similar to how I've written feature-length scripts but different enough to provide a good alternative creative outlet. This site has been great along with the posts on Facebook. Thanks to all and especially Scott!

Didn't get a lot of writing in. I don't want to make excuses but I had a long to do list for today before I could write the very difficult scene I had lined up. I had to-- 1. Clean apartment. 2. Exercise. 3. Do laundry. 4. Shower. 5. Trim nails. 6. Clean shower. 7. Take my neighbor's dog for a walk. 8. Practice origami. 9. shower again because of my neighbor's dog. 10. Make sure I have all my tax information in order for the past seven years in case I get audited. 11) Go to the DMV to take a practice test and check my vision . 12) write difficult scene.

In between babysitting a pair of doofus window and patio door installers and downing multiple rounds of Sudafed to stab at a blossoming cold, I worked on one of my big set piece sequences. Maybe it was the Sudafed or maybe all the adrenaline from growing impatience with said doofusses, but wow, what a riot!! My merry band of Gen X underdogs went on a "recon mission" to check out some potential female targets -- and between modes of surveillance and the "staged / put on" party the women threw to show the guys just who they're about to mess with, it became quite a fun little sequence! Also scribbled notes for another sequence which won't happen until near end of second act, but seeing something about "adventure races" took me in a whole new direction and I had to get some of that onto paper. Lord, I hope I can read my handwriting..........

Just discovered I am the proud recipient of the Trumbo Award day #18! Big smiles today :). Thank you Scott! Yeah, sci-fi is my big passion. Imagined worlds and planets, new discoveries, new races, intergalactic political intrigue and an unlimited expanse of stars and possibilities. Gets me going each time I need inspiration. At the moment I am crawling up out of a headache, still managed to do 6 pages today. ZD30 keeps pushing me forward and I am thankful for that.

Sounds about right. Anything to avoid writing. That's why I always ask my interview subjects: What's the single best excuse you have NOT to write. It always gets a laugh... and oftentimes some interesting answers!

Handwriting is a MAJOR issue in my household, specifically mine. My mother always said I should have been a doctor because no one can read my handwriting (that has something to do with her issues reading prescriptions or something). Here's to figuring out your chicken scratch!

If you can pound out 6 pages with a headache, that's a sign you have what it takes to be a writer. Add hangover and you can make that a PRO writer!
