One of those days where I felt tired all day. But I went to yoga after work and that helped wake me up a little and refocus. Anyone else find that exercise benefits the creative process? For me it definitely does. And now I'm ready to call it a night with 4 more pages down.

This morning I decided to try this maori haka dance as suggested. I slapped. I screamed. I stomped. My downstairs neighbors complained. Oh well. I managed to write four scenes today. Will write a couple more later.

Wow, Andy, excellent work!

Steve, I think exercise is key. I mentioned this somewhere recently - here, Facebook - about how when I go for a run, I will often take a story problem or problems with me. It's remarkable how many times I come back with a solution. This goes back YEARS. There is something about endorphins, getting outside, rhythmic breathing, and just letting one's mind go. Not sure what it is, but it sure works for me. Walking, biking, yoga, a workout. Definitely a way to attack story issues in a lateral way. Congrats on 4 more pages!
Scott at 2015-11-10 01:33:21:
lallo, did you photoshop that yourself? That's classic. I see a Trumbo Award in your future, my friend.
Scott at 2015-11-10 01:34:28:
David, if you'd done that at the mall and put out a hat, you could have made some tips from passersby! There I go. Putting on my producer's hat again! HT for the 4 scenes. Keep jamming them out!

Slow day at work, slow slog through traffic, all contributed to a slow-going 4 pages. But they got done! 36 total. I have two 12 hour shooting days looming upon me Wednesday and Thursday. It's gonna be tough to muster up the writing energy after a long day on set... but 120 pages is happening this month one way or the other. Very grateful for this blog and all your company!

I'd need a pretty big hat cause I'm a very talented dancer.

Day 10 in Italy. I woke up with a terrible headache, so I hope I'll be able to achieve my goal (from page 34 to page 39). My mind is saying "oh, come on. Why do you want to write? Today? Please. Relax and rest." I have to shut my mind up, but it's tempting. :)

Hit the week running, 10 pages! Sneaking up on the midpoint and happy with what's on the page from last week, even if it rambles. This week I'll be switching back from protagonist to secondary character as I tie up plot-lines ahead of my eventual close of Act2. Keep writing all.

Wrote 4,5 pages. ZD30 wakes up a lot of stuff in my imagination. Haven't worked on a feature screenplay in years.
Timm Higgins at 2015-11-10 11:44:54:
Stuck on a beat and a scene. And it's driving me nuts.
S.Derm at 2015-11-10 12:00:40:
Been chugging along and (mostly) getting my daily page count in but I haven't reread what I've written, almost out of a Wile E. Coyote fear that I'll look down and find the cliff I've been running along stopped twenty feet ago. But I finally took a look -- not nearly as bad as I feared -- other than way too many typos. Now... to resist the urge to rewrite those pages before I've finished whole damn draft.
Scott at 2015-11-10 17:18:52:
thedchen, I hear you. Time. Not enough of it. But somehow - like our Protagonists - we just get it done. As you say: One way or the other! Onward!
Scott at 2015-11-10 17:21:43:
Lorenzo, Voices Of Negativity LOVE to run with things like headaches, colds, upset stomach. That is a built-in excuse: "I just didn't feel good enough to write." The specific physical condition a plausible rationale. This is where two aspirin, a shot of orange juice, and a hearty growl emanating from your guts is needed. "Begone, VON! I renounce you! Headache or no, I'm off to WRITE!"
Scott at 2015-11-10 17:22:49:
Philip, so you've got the end of Act II in sight. You're doing well! Keep up with that positive energy and keep your eyes on the prize!
Scott at 2015-11-10 17:23:46:
Ricardo, glad to hear about the Challenge awakening your imagination. Hope you're enjoying the process!!
Scott at 2015-11-10 17:26:49:
Timm, my advice: Type [Scene TBD], then move on. Write the next several scenes. In my experience, that almost always provides the resolution to the problematic scene you're currently stuck on. This is also a great way to fight back against the Voices Of Negativity. If you're stuck on a scene, that is a great excuse not to move forward. And VON knows this. "Oh, just sit here until you solve the problem. You can't possibly go forward until you do." Plausible, right? Yes, but from a productivity standpoint utterly wrong! Move ahead. Write the next scene and the next one... the next one. Write all the way to FADE OUT if you have to. At some point, a solution will emerge. Trust the process!
Scott at 2015-11-10 17:29:35:
RESIST!!! Unless you are 100% confident you can edit your pages AND keep moving forward, don't go back. Here's a heads up on a Tweet I have slotted to go live tonight at 11:20PM ET: “If I could say anything, it's keep going. Don’t go back and fix that scene, that dialogue. Just write the next word." -- Anna Hamilton Phelan Anna wrote Gorillas in the Mist and several other movies. So if you don't buy my argument, buy hers! Always move forward!
lallo at 2015-11-10 18:46:28:
Yes I did, Scott :) Ha ha, thanks!
S.Derm at 2015-11-11 02:06:29:
Quite right. Onward and upward. Thanks!
Lorenzo Colonna at 2015-11-11 03:06:58:
Four aspirin, two shots of orange juice, and an invocation to the Great Old Ones (which isn't that wise) didn't solve the problem, unfortunately. :D But, you know, today is another day. :)
