One of my favorite words: Lucubration. "From Latin, lucubratio, study by night, work produced at night; from lucubrare meaning to work by lamplight; akin to Latin luc-, lux."

Ben, I LOVE THAT! How about if you match up with a similar Latin based word: Incubation. From the Latin, incubare, to lie, recline, or sit (on eggs), hatch (as in ideas, stories). As in, "Tonight I'm gonna incubate while I lucubrate, bro." Thanks, Ben! Happy lucubrations!

I've been a night owl since high school (to the point where I actually spent a semester going to bed at 7pm... so I could wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and have the whole night to myself). I was able to organize my college schedule so that all my classes were at the beginning of the morning or evening, that way I could sleep all day. Added bonus: no need for an alarm clock. But I figured out why that worked for me, it's nothing to do with low light moods or anything: it's just that there was no sense of the sun passing in the sky. I wasn't distracted by the thought of the day passing or the light in the room changing, one hour could bleed into another and into another without making itself obvious. I got so much done.
