I hereby lay claim to a screenplay I'll write in November! Now, seriously... do you think it would be a god idea to discuss some prep work like outlining and getting ready for the challenge?

Hells yeah I'm in. I'll even be writing day one thru fiveish in Austin, at the conference/festival, what better inspiration.

When I look at November's schedule, I'm doubtful that I can crank out even the most vomitous of drafts - but why not at least have a try. I'll see if I can get the outline for the project I have in mind done by Nov 1. Make sure you post updates to Twitter too!

I wrote a horror script that was requested/read (but ultimately passed on) by MGM. I challenged myself to write that in a month but in reality it only took me 14/15 actual writing days. Of course I had the story in mind anyway. I guess my point is I have another story that I've been thinking about but been procrastinating over writing; I think it's about time this thing gets done. A perfect opportunity to indulge myself: let's convert a megalomanic sci-fi idea into a script! It's been brewing for a couple of years already, and I have tons of notes on the subject. And it's the very same idea that kicked me into spec screenwriting. Frankly, all this time, I deliberately avoided sitting down and writing it. Reason? Not to waste time building a story that requires hundreds of millions of dollars to be produced. Instead, I settled for a more budget-friendly approach to my scripts. Well, F*** THAT! It's full throttle into the universe! THANKS!

Good for you! If I may add Ning. - If you are unfamiliar with Formatting (and a screenplay software) write it in WORD or something like it. To start: Capitalize all new scenes. (INT - for interior; EXT. for exterior) (indicate day or night) - Eg: INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT Add action or description here. JANET start dialogue here. EXT. HOUSE - DAY Keep doing this. JOHN And you'll be fine. Just imagine what you see on the screen and describe that in your own voice as succinctly as possible. Good luck!

An excellent program, much preferred to Final Draft, and you can export into FD if need be. I'll also be uploading a guide to format put out by the Nicholl folks. Look for that in a couple of days.

How's everyone doing? I am almost through my second pass of my vomit draft of the screenplay I've been writing for a while. I hope to insert the changes tomorrow or Thursday - busy day tomorrow. But it will take at least one more pass after that. Then hopefully next week I can move on to my other piece! Editing is grueling!

Holy heck I've been at it for 3 days! I prepared myself in Oct I didn't write very much bc I was like well shit I'm gonna write a whole script in Nov! I started out with a loglines which I can't remember, then I was going to do the Mimi movie method, but then I just started writing and next thing I know I'm at pg. 35! It was going great, now I'm at pg. 35 and I've gotten out of dialogue and into outline. Not sure I like it, but I'm just going with it. It's a comedy so I figure 100-125 pages. It's doing my head in, but I'm going to keep plugging away! I'm tempted to go back and I'm trying to force myself not to and just keep going forward! But I do have to fill in the scenes where I'm just writing outline. I guess I trying to get the ending, the purpose of the darned thing! Then maybe I can go backwards! It's day 3 and I'm pg. 45! Almost half way done!
