I'm having a hard time getting behind this rant. I mean, Ridley Scott is involved, which gives the project a little more weight.

And I wonder if there was an active internet back in 1986, how many guys would have been screaming that they were making a sequel with the guy who directed Piranha 2.

I have never understood the big deal about remakes or re-imaginings. If Shakespeare can be re-interpreted(on screen, in theaters and books) thousands of times, why the hell can't we see a new take on "The GodFather"?

If the new version sucks, it in no way diminishes the original. In fact re-boots can offer a chance to fill in some unique backstory.

I thought Rob Zombie did this in his Halloween remake. The whole spin on how Micheal comes by the iconic "Shape" mask was put in to round out the original backstory, and I felt it worked.

Also folks, as much as I love 'em, they're just films. It's not like every time a remake sucks an angel gets his face riped off...actually that sounds like a great reboot idea. I call dibs.

Personally, I've actually worked on a commercial with Carl Rinsch, and having been on his set and seen the types of ideas the guy generates and then coupled with the fact that Ridley and RSA back him -- I'm all about whatever his "vision" may be...

Here's hoping the script works, after all Terminator Salvation looks exquisite, but at the end of the day, isn't all about the story?

Don't remake:

"Saving Private Ryan": was done TOO well the 1st time; it's perfect.
"Back to School" (Rodney Dangerfield 1986): You'll NEVER recapture its humor nor diverse characters.
"Cadyshack" :watching it 1 time was bad enough.
