Thanks for the trailer links, Scott.

HUGE fan of the romantic comedy genre. Off the cuff, "My Life in Ruins" looks SOLID, "I Hate Valentine's Day, not so much.

Odd not to see much of Nia Vardalos for YEARS then 2 movies released in two months...

Saw her on an interview with the girls of ABC'S "The View," (it was on in the background while I was online) and my ears pricked up, she's like 46! A couple of years ago she was overweight, and decided to rein it in. Look at the results -- totally worked!

LOVED her in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Totally with you on the family thing too, my my and aunt LOVE MBFGW because of the family accent in the romantic comedy. Seeing the trailer for MLIR I revisted that show, and I LOVED it. One of the best rom-coms in this decade in my humble opinion. Hope Nia Vardalos can repeat that with these two shows.

I'll probably check this one out after seeing Hangover this weekend. I loved that MBFGW took off like it did. I saw it after it had been out for months, MONTHS!, and the theater was still packed.

Unfortunately, the reviews, so far, for Ruins don't seem very flattering.

It always interesting to see how people react to someone after they've had a little success. I try not to read too many reviews because I like to go in and form my own opinions. But I wonder how many reviewers are holding this film up to the shadow of MBFGW and purposefully looking for the weak spots?

You're right, Michael, the reviews have been pretty poor for My Life In Ruins. When I saw the trailer, it reminded me very much of the 1989 movie Shirley Valentine, which also features a single woman going to Greece to rediscover her lust for life.
