I remember ScriptFrenzy, unfortunately I entered in 2012 and they were gone the next year. But thanks to the ScriptFrenzy approach I got to finish one screenplay. Count me in.

* Ugh, sorry to hear, that bubonic plague is rough. Damn rats. I've only had constant, repetitive dental surgery for the past month. And I'm not even halfway done! And amazingly, it's not even that painful, but it just sucks the life outta you. So if you had things worse and you can do it, I should be able to do it. * How does the Prep-to-outline work fit into this? Should we have it done beforehand, or does it count in the 30 days? * We're posting what we're writing on here? Austere, the illness wasn't really terrible. I don't think you can be a writer without a certain amount of whining. We FEEL things bigger than most people... including stuffy noses and clogged heads. Anyway I survived. And now you will, too, in next month's writing challenge!

swinefever, that's one of the things re this challenge: Even if you LOATHE the words you write... you continue to WRITE. The idea is you will discover much of your story along the way... and you will have something you can rewrite, not start from scratch. Hell, I can already feel my self-hatred coming on! This is outstanding!!! But first- ouch… ugh… glad you’re back from the dregs! Like you I was sick as a canine too. Something (prbly from the kids/school) went around the horn in my home: young son and daughter (twins), wife and finally me.. we all got it. Coughing, wheezing, body and headache… nasty. Still crawling out of that ‘pit’… about 85-90% now. Then, as soon as I read this post about ‘Zero Draft Thirty’ I thought, “boy oh boy is this perfect timing for a script idea I’ve been kicking around in my head for months!” Just imagining doing it gave me another 5% of feeling better, straight away. I really need something like this to get me (back) on track. It’s time to jump on the pendulum and write our asses off for 30 days, for good or for bad! Love it! Yes, I finally joined my wife in Seattle in late August. I'm working with the FAA as a contractor and getting used to being able to go outside without bursting into flames!

I admit, I'd like to use the month to finish off a rewrite that I've been putting off for ages... I finally know ow to fix it, but I've been procrastinating on trying to figure out how to crack into that, get a fingerhold.

Rewrites are good for you :) I'll be cutting down from 4 characters to 2 and going back to what was the original core of my story so this is a true p.1 RW, the first draft of what it's supposed to be. Having a pre existing foundation is a huge plus and also serves as encouragement since both FADE IN and FADE OUT have already been written.

dwallace, I like your instincts here. However "turkey" has a negative connotation in Hollywood... as in, "Wow, that movie was a total turkey" (read: bomb). That can easily extend to scripts, so we should probably avoid negative association. Plus one of my favorite childhood pals was a turkey. His name was Woodrow. He had orange and blue feathers, the original Mets fan. I loved Woodrow. Too bad we had to eat him that one Thanksgiving...

Luther, if ANYONE had told me that parents ALWAYS contract the weird diseases their children bring home from school... I may NEVER have agreed to become a father twice. This last malady absolutely derived from my youngest son Luke as he had the same damn thing... then 5 days later... WHAM! Moral of the story: Don't get sick. Or don't have children. Or have children only never let them out of your house. Or adopt virtual children who can only get you virtually sick. Or something like that...

TOTALLY down for this!!! I did NaNoWriMo once, a few years ago. It was fun and weirdly stressful in a NBA Finals series push sort way. I'm an athlete from way back and I've recently rediscovered my long dormant, "highly competive" competive streak, so this is right up my alley. And since I literally just came from watching "The Martian", I'm all in a "I'm F'ing love movies" (??= emotional range) mood. And that means I'm so ready to kick ass on a script. So yeah..... ?????

Every day in November, I will do a ZD30 post. It will feature some sort of inspirational / informational quote, whatever thoughts happen to be on my mind, then solicit comments from ZD30 participants. Anything you want to report. Page count for the day. The week. Feeling good. Feeling bad. Want someone to pat your virtual back. Give support to someone else. I will go into detail on this next week as we get closer. And we'll figure out some of this stuff along the way as this is the first time doing it. In other words, we will create a kind of virtual bar or coffee shop in which we gather for a drink to discuss how we're doing. One thing I know: Don't post pages. You want to keep those private for security and legal reasons.

I'm in. As hard as it seems for me, since I tend to be a stressed out perfectionist, I'll do it.

An excellent program, much preferred to Final Draft, and you can export into FD if need be. I'll also be uploading a guide to format put out by the Nicholl folks. Look for that in a couple of days.

Your site has provided me with inspiration when I needed it in the past, and just when I find myself needing some again, ZDT comes along. I'm in!

Just checking in to let y'all know how day 1 or rather night 1 went... 11 pages in and so far so good. I'm enjoying the story, knowing what's coming and who's gonna get it in the neck... literally :-) Tonight I return to the dungeon to thrash out some more. Oh, btw, it's a low budget horror... Today, while doing all the usual domestic crap, I'm wandering around contemplating what will come next and how best to write it, despite the outlining and so on already done, I'm questioning how best to move forward... no doubt I'll be killing the internal editor and faithless doubter in my head before my fingers return to keys! But the repeated second guessing is putting me in a spin... Sod it, I can always fix it in post, right? :-/

Not such a productive night tonight chaps & chapesses... only 6 pages done. The poxy indecision demon kept bugging me, do I wanna do this with this character or that one, who walks in first? Grrr... nailed the sucker in the end, but hope it goes more smoothly tomorrow night... Write on everyone! :-)

For those who may be judging themselves, it's never too late in the day to wake yourself up for a sitting, and stay there to let any idea play out. You can still start. Exhausted & crampy (on day one of ZD30 with time remaining to write before midnight), all procrastinating complete, I still wasn't sure which story idea I wanted to work on, or if I could stay awake long enough to find out. I told myself that's no reason not to start, and that isn't stronger than my commitment to write something. So (without moving an inch), I stayed in a word doc (so to remain in story and avoid the pitfalls of being too technical yet), managed 2 strong pages of story opening details. WORD pages. I put in 2 hours. Start where you are! I'm writing tonight again and looking forward to be surprised. Because yesterday's writing was rewarding, without any expectation, and now I want more. Happy Writing to you!
