Not really sure the wet street (at night) is really a cliche.
Most streets are wetted before shooting because they look better. They look black.
Every car ad you've ever seen has wetted roads.
It'd be kind of akin to saying shooting film on film is a cliche. Using clothespins on the set is a cliche. Dramatically lighting a scene is a cliche.
