I moderated a panel at the 2014 Austin Film Festival that featured Craig Borten, co-writer of Dallas Buyers Club. One of the more remarkable things he revealed was that he spent several days interviewing Ron Woodroof, the main character in DBC. During those conversations, Craig promised Ron he would get the movie made. A few days later, Ron died. It was 1992. It took 20 years for the movie to get produced. It speaks to Craig's persistence and the power of the story that it finally became a movie... one which won three Oscars.
