Scott do you find it's an excessive burden to be as brilliant as you are?

Like the analysis. Like you, I LOVED the new Star Wars movie. Didn't like Leaonard Nemoy in it, but the re-invention of ALL the Enterprise favs was BRILLIANT. Thought the villians were a little under-developed. The old adage a movies only as story as its antagonist certainly doesn't apply here.

Chris Pine totally parked his role as Captain Kirk. Better than Shatner? Yeah, I'd have to say so. Guy who played Spock. Dude from NBC's "Heros" was good too -- but not as good as Pine.

Best re-invisioning of a previously (well) established TV serries and multiple movie string I can ever remember watching. "Star Trek" 2009 is true marvel. Kudos to all involved in its production.

Brilliant. I loved the movie, and you're spot on with your analysis ... it's a great piece of work.

I agree with you, for the most part. This is, far and away, the best Trek movie. The first 10 minutes are great. I loved that they didn't make it all dark and angsty.

I always have trouble with time travel movies, though. When Nero discovers the star date, and that he's gone back in time, why doesn't he head off toward Romulus just to see if it's still around? Or is that too, erm, logical?

Maybe I missed that bit of pipe during one of the shaky-cam/lens flare moments.

Otherwise, I thought they nailed it. Great way to start the summer movie season.

Okay. Just listened to the Creative Screenwriting Podcast with Orci and Kurtzman -

They filmed Nero getting attacked by Klingons and taken to prison, where he'd spend the next 25 years plotting his revenge on Spock. Nero also debates returning to Romulus, but couldn't deal with his wife being a baby and not being able to be with her.

As for the Major Coincidence - they said there was a line from "Spock Prime" in the snow cave about Destiny making sure they all came together.

This info still isn't in the movie, but knowing it exists makes my brain stop turning it over and over again.
