Of course, IN YOUR EYES from Crowe's SAY ANYTHING ... the image of Cusack holding up the boombox became indelible and tied to the song.

Interestingly enough, they added that song after the film was shot, originally he had another song in there but felt that one gave too much of the story away, and asked Gabriel for a song ... which turned out to be In Your Eyes ...

But I've digressed ... it's still one of my most favorite moments in film ...

Two Donovan tracks used to great measure in film...

1. Atlantis (Goodfellas) - when DeNiro and Pesci beat the living dogshit outta' some guy in a club. I'll never hear that song the same way again...

2. Season of the Witch (To Die For) - final moments as Illeana Douglas ice skates over the ice-entombed corpse of Nicole Kidman... we completely FEEL her satisfaction which, of course, makes the finale shocking and sick and wonderful.

Personally, I think the BEST movie music moment come via the ROMANTIC COMEDY. Here are some of my favorites:

1. "A Life of Illusion" as used in "The 40 Year Old Virgin." TOTALLY paints a picture of a very sad person, Steve Carell's Andy. The guy's waking up alone with a hard, peeing on himself, eating along, looking bored -- yet working out trying to improve himself, and riding a bicycle to work. BRILLIANT set-up for the title character.

2. "Who Do You Love" by George Thorogood & the Destroyers as used in "How To Loose a Guy in 10 Days" to set up the ulta cool, bad-ass, Benjamin Barry (as portrayed by Matthew McCognauey.

3. "Head over Heels" by the Go-Gos as used in "13 Going On 30." Sets up the frentic New York pace that the protagonist Jenna Rinks (Jennifer Garner) goes up against.

4. "I Got Ants in My Pants" by James Brown as used in "The 40 Year Old Virgin." BRILLIANT comedic accent. Tell an inhibited not to think about sex, then put him in a public place where he is bombarded relentless by it, though he runs from it -- with ants in his pants!

5. "Somebody Like You" by Keith Urban as used in "How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days." The montage scene at Statin Island where Benjamin Barry teaches Andie Anderson how to ride his motorcyle, the beginning of them falling in love apart from the bet and article rivalry.

6. "Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads as used in "13 Going on 30." Jenna Rinks sees the guy of her dreams pull up, then CUT TO: the guy she's destined to be with dancing freely, which embarasses her in front of all of her friends.

"Cheek to Cheek" at the end of "The Purple Rose of Cairo" and "Hot Stuff" in The Full Monty...

Other musical moments I'm fond of:

"The Porpoise Song" / Head

"Science Fiction/Double Feature" / The Rocky Horror Picture Show

"The End" / Apocalypse Now.

"Just Dropped In (To See Condition My Condition is In)" / The Big Lewboski

Just about any song in Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs seems perfectly matched to the moment...

Of course "State of Love and Trust" from Pearl Jam, where the girls hit the bar and kind-of free themselves dancing their pain through the PJ music...

Cool scene.

Another one... Free Bird, in Forrest Gump. When Jenny is totally stoned and steps into the edge of the balcony.
