The life of a screenwriter can be frustrating, even maddening. It's something every aspiring Hwood writer should at least be aware of. And, of course, there are substantial rewards. Plus, many screenwriters absolutely love what they do. But believe me, when you break into The Biz, be prepared to hear screenwriters pissing and moaning about their lives, careers, studios, agents, etc. It's part of what being a screenwriter is about.

So was this movie "The Legend of Billie Jean"?

David, I suspect you're right. The Legend of Billie Jean's plot summary per IMDBpro.com:

"Average Texas teen, Billie Jean Davy, is caught up in an odd fight for justice. She is usually followed and harassed around by local boys, who, one day, decide to trash her brother's scooter for fun. The boys' father refuses to pay them back the price of the scooter. The fight for "fair is fair" takes the teens around the state and produces an unlikely hero."

That sounds similar plot-wise. Plus in the book I took the Rosenthal quote from, The Legend of Billie Jean is conspicuously absent from his list of credits.
