If that pitch was "Lions Tigers and Bears" -- it was a comic book that came out in 2004-ish.

I think the visual nature of comic books and what it takes for Image to pick up a new title, gives these stories an added advantage in terms of merchandising over say, just a screenplay.

I have to imagine that "Where the Wild Things Are" looking incredible also has a lot to do with the interest in "Lions, Tigers, and Bears."

There's one story I've written that I think about licensing and as potential goods a lot. Stangely enough this the first I ever wrote, a screwball comedy...

I never get depressed over the state of screenwriting. Mechandising is just PART of the game. I WANT the people I work with to make money hand-over-fist from the scripts I provide them. If they score on merchandising. Cool. I hope they make millions.
