I can't tell you how impressed I am by J.J. Abrahms. I had high hopes for his take on Star Trek from the beginning and somehow he's exceeded them. This guy is the next Spielberg for sure.

The simple fact that he previewed the film for troops in Kuwait makes it a great film for me.

Great trailer! Can't wait.

Scott, could you blog about this recent trend of reinventing franchises that's taken Hollywood by storm?

- Superman
- The Dark Knight
- James Bond
- Star Trek
- and now apparently (although could be more of just an old-fashioned "remake") Robin Hood

I mean the universal force alone that it took to break Bond out of that tired saggy mold is uncanny. But someone took a chance and it worked. Is it totally just money-driven?

The new Star Treck proves yet again why Spock is an ideal officer in Star Fleet -- nothing ever surprises him or catches him off guard
