I'm equally impressed he was able to work such an extended rhyming sequence into the script. I think people have a positive emotional reaction to a bit of doggerel and are more likely to quote/remember it after they've seen the movie. Takeaway: we could do worse than a script in verse.

It's quite clever, isn't it, Devin? And makes sense from WITHIN the story universe. These guys are criminals, at least some of them not the brightest guys in the world. So command recognized they needed some sort of device to help them remember a complicated plan. Therefore it's not only clever from a standpoint of entertainment, it also works within the context of who the characters are inside the story universe. Of course, I can't think of The Dirty Dozen without recalling this scene from Sleepless in Seattle.
