Another example is JC Chandor's film "All Is Lost". Like Cast Away the nemesis is a storm/the ocean. Not quite as Hollywood though, there is no character construct like Wilson.

Jeremy, that's a point I'll be making in the current All Is Lost script analysis, how unlike Cast Away (with Wilson) or Life of Pi (his notebook), the script doesn't give any means by which to enter into Our Man's inner thoughts. What you see is what you get. An interesting choice by Chandor. But yes, the ocean functions as the story's antagonist. Just like the boulder is in 127 Hours.
