I think what have to take away is that Story is King.

Structure is very important (maybe even critical) but if the story doesn’t suck you in, the project is just an essay. Also, story only exists if there is some emotional connection to the archetypes.

Graphic novels are stories – look at the loglines. All three have some sort of emotional hook - love, vengeance, fear – that make you want to know more. Who killed his family? Who are these Eugenics and what are they doing to us? Can a college kid really save the world?

Simple premises, but real stories.

Story is king, long live the king!

I think folks like graphic novels because then they can see the movie as opposed to read it ... it really shouldn't work that way, scripts are meant to be read, but many folks don't like to read something that's meant to be in another form (a film) so graphic novels provide an easy thing to point to and go, but hey, look ... it looks cool!

That's what I think, anyway.
