I'm a nut for these kind of movies myself though, sadly, I was too young to enjoy them at various quadruple features and drive-ins. I grew up on the Saturday night horror host approach so Ned the Dead on Channel 11's Chiller Theater out of Green Bay, WI, was my intro to the psychotronic wonders of giant bugs, monsters, and saucers.

My personal favorites are all directed by William Castle's hand... House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, and the best, of course, The Tingler!

My other fave would be the totally insane Corman classic, "It Conquered the World" with Peter Graves and Lee Van Cleef. The monster is basically a giant pile of romaine lettuce who dispatches mind-controlling bat creatures on humanity. Lots of fun.

Hey Scott, if you haven't yet, you MUST find a way to see Joe Dante's horribly underrated MATINEE with John Goodman from the early 90's. A better homage you will not find...

Rodan and Earth vs. the Flying Saucers scared the bejabbers out of me as a child. I was bejabberless for years afterward. But This Island Earth and Forbidden Planet are what sci-fi movies should be. They still hold up today.
